Men’s Soccer Start Regional Play Against SWIC Saturday

Article by: Paige Allen,
GODFREY – The men’s soccer team will start round one in regional play Saturday, Oct. 26 at noon at home against Southwestern Illinois College of Belleville.
The No. 3 Trailblazers finished their season with a 4-0 win against Culver Stockton JV on Oct. 20, which put the Trailblazers at 11-5-2 for their regular season and 4-0 in the conference.
The top regional seeds are No. 1 Lincoln Land and No. 2 Parkland Community College.
“After the season is over, you wipe the slate,” said Head Coach Tim Rooney. “It is just like starting over again when we get to the playoff games. We have a great group of guys who play hard, and they can win if they play their best.”
Proof that a “W” can go in the box for the Trailblazers came earlier in the season when they defeated The Storm 4-2 on September 18. The Storm is 8-7-1 and 1-0 in the conference.
A win against SWIC means the men will continue to the Region 24 semi-final game set for Wednesday, Oct. 30 at Parkland.
