L&C’s volleyball team has designated their next home game as their Pink Out Match to raise awareness of breast cancer.
The Trailblazers will take on Region 24 opponent Southwestern Illinois College in the match Thursday, Oct. 8 at 6 p.m. in the George C. Terry River Bend Arena.
“We have all been touched by this horrible disease, either directly or indirectly,” said head coach Jim Hunstein. “If we can create more awareness here at Lewis and Clark, maybe we can encourage more people to get regular check-ups and exams to protect themselves and their families.”
In honor of October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month the women of the volleyball team will be wearing special pink jerseys the evening of the match.
“I would encourage those fans coming to the match to also wear pink,” Hunstein said. “We want to make a strong showing for support and awareness.”
The Trailblazers are proud to take part in a nationwide campaign intended to honor the memory of those we have lost to the disease, rejoice in the health of survivors and celebrate the courage of those still fighting.
