GODFREY – After being crowned Region and District Champions, Lewis and Clark Community College women’s soccer has set their sights on a national title at the NJCAA National Soccer Championships at Eastern Florida State College in Melbourne, Florida.

The team arrived by bus on Saturday and has been practicing and settling in for game one on Tuesday, Nov. 17 against Laramie County Community College from Laramie, Wyoming. The game will be live streamed at www.njcaatv.com.

“I think practices went really well the last couple days,” said Head Coach Tim Rooney.
“We don’t have anyone hurt and everyone is anxious to play. I think if we play up to our capabilities we should be fine.”

The Trailblazers earned their trip to nationals by defeating St. Charles Community College in the District 3 Championship game.

The players are ready to start their bid for the national title. Going into the tournament, the Trailblazers have the NJCAA Division 1 leader in points and goals, Nicole Howard, and Cassidy Foley is leading nationally in assists.

“We are ready to play,” said Nicole Howard, a sophomore forward from Rolla, Missouri. “I think we are all pretty relaxed. It helped coming out and watching games today.”
