GODFREY – The 2015 All Region 24 Team for NJCAA Women’s Soccer includes player of the year Nicole Howard, and Coach of the Year Tim Rooney.

Rooney was also named All Region Coach of the Year for Men’s Soccer.

“He’s awesome,” said sophomore forward Nicole Howard. “He deserves every award that he gets. He works so hard and gets us to where we are.”

Nicole Howard of Rolla, Missouri ended the season leading the NJCAA Division 1 in points and goals. She racked up 100 points and 40 goals this season. Howard was named 1st Team All American last year in addition to being named Region 24 player of the year this year.

“Being named player of the year means a lot,” Howard said. “I worked hard over the summer, but I couldn’t do it without my team. I wouldn’t have the goals that I had without my team.”

Howard was named First Team All-Region, along with teammates Cassidy Foley of Quincy, Illinois, Kaley Hill of Florissant, Missouri and Jane Skaggs of St. Charles, Missouri. Natalie Otten of St. Charles, Missouri and Tessa Wagner of Edwardsville, Illinois earned honorable mention.

The Trailblazers had a 16-4-2 season under the direction of coach Tim Rooney. They also earned the Regional 24 and District D championship.

“They played terrific all year,” said head coach Tim Rooney. “They did a great job. I am very happy with this group.”
