• Human Resources Training

    In partnership with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), Corporate and Community Learning at Lewis and Clark Community College offers two professional development programs to address the needs of adults who wish to broaden their perspective of the human resource profession. These courses are designed to present the participant with essential knowledge for entry into exempt positions in the human resource development/personnel function. The programs offer the opportunity to strengthen skills, boost confidence and advance career opportunities.

    SHRM Learning System for Certification Preparation


    Our Human Resource certification preparation course is designed primarily for individuals seeking the new standard in HR certification. Now, more than ever, HR teams are required to assume a greater leadership role, contributing to the strategic direction of their organization. The HR profession is no longer just about what you know–but how you do your job. Establish yourself as a globally-recognized human resource expert by earning the new standard in HR certification: SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP℠) and SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP℠).     Already Certified?

    If you have earned an existing certification (PHR®, SPHR®, GPHR®, HRBP®, HRMP®*) and are in good standing or you become certified by Jan. 31, 2015, you will be eligible for SHRM's new certification—at no cost-by completing the following three simple steps between Jan. 5 and Dec. 31, 2015:

    • Document that your current certification is in good standing
    • Sign the Code of Ethics
    • Complete a brief online tutorial on HR competencies

    Once you complete this process, you will earn the new SHRM credential and begin a three-year recertification cycle**.

    *PHR, SPHR, GPHR, HRBP, HRMP are registered trademarks of the HR Certification Institute and are not SHRM certifications.

    ** You will not lose or have to give up any of your current credentials in order to obtain the new SHRM certification.


    SHRM Essentials of HR Management

    SHRMessentialsThe SHRM Essentials® of HR Management is an introductory course offering a comprehensive overview of human resource roles and responsibilities. It gives participants critical knowledge to help reduce potentially costly lawsuits and improves their ability to handle challenging HR issues. Updated in 2013, this course is ideal for those who are just starting out in the human resources profession, or those who are looking for an effective way to boost their employee management skills.
