The Lewis & Clark Community College Web Accessibility Policy
It is the policy of Lewis and Clark Community College that official College information published on College Web sites shall be accessible to all users. The College has adopted the access standards of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended, and therefore all Web pages containing official College information that are built, updated or revised after the effective date of this policy must comply with Section 508 requirements. Section 508 establishes only a minimum standard for accessibility and Web pages; developers are encouraged to go beyond the minimum whenever possible. The College endorses the use of the Illinois Web Accessibility Standards (IWAS) for enhancing pages beyond the Section 508 requirements.
Web Accessibility Technology
In addition to using current development techniques for College web pages, the College has acquired web software to assist in the creation of legally compliant web pages. This software, Lift Text Transcoder, can be accessed through the Text Only link on the College’s home page.
Web Accessibility Assistance
The College has designated staff to assist in the development of accessible content on the College website. These staff members will monitor the College's compliance with this policy and train Web publishers and developers how to make all Web pages accessible. The College's Accessibility Coordinators may grant written requests for exceptions to this policy under appropriate circumstances. To contact the Web Accessibility Coordinators, send e-mail to accessibility@lc.edu.
