The Lewis and Clark Community College Paul Hanks Dental Clinic is currently accepting new patients for dental hygiene services offered. The Clinic offers thorough assessment, a treatment plan, preventive (teeth cleaning) or therapeutic periodontal treatment, oral hygiene instructions, fluoride and sealant treatments and any necessary referral for treatment outside the realm of these services.
The clinic is operated by the dental hygiene students of Lewis and Clark under the supervision of licensed dentists and dental hygienists. The clinic has been providing these services to the community since the inception of the program in 1996, and at the new campus facility since 2002. The students also provide a thorough oral assessment, which includes an oral cancer exam, periodontal exam and x-rays.
Lewis and Clark’s Associate Professor and Clinic Supervisor Dr. John Miller, said patients can expect the best dental hygiene care at the Paul Hanks Dental Clinic. "Although the appointment times are longer than in a non-educational setting, the quality of care is excellent and the students and faculty take the time to meet each individual patient’s needs."
An example of the cost for dental hygiene services are $12 for the exam, $6-20 for x-rays and cleanings start at $15.
Appointment days and times vary each semester, so interested patients are asked to call the clinic at 618-468-4463 for more information or to schedule a screening appointment.
