Nurse Managed Center

Who Are We?

The Nurse-Managed Center has been developed to collaborate with several health-service agencies and school districts to help expand healthcare services and education in rural communities. The Center’s service area includes Greene, Macoupin, Jersey, and Calhoun counties and the City of Alton. The Nurse-Managed Center will assist with local health fairs, screenings, community and patient education, and limited primary care services. These events will provide the Lewis and Clark Nursing Students the opportunity for rural community healthcare experience as part of their clinical service requirements.

Over the course of three years, student rural community clinical rotations will consist of Lewis and Clark Community College, McKendree College, and SIU Edwardsville Nursing Program students. The purpose of the clinical rotations in non-institutional settings is to make the students aware that rural communities, which are designated medically underserved, have needs for nursing staff. school nurses, home health/public health nurses, rural health clinics, and hospice. In addition to nursing services, oral health education and dental sealants are offered by the Lewis and Clark Dental Hygiene Program.

The Nurse Practitioners of Lewis and Clark Community College Nursing Faculty who hold master’s degrees or higher and have been certified in their area of specialty include:

  • Vicki K. Young, RN, MSN, FNP and Project Co-Director
