Co-op Work Experience Requirement
Cooperative Education is a unique educational process linking the world of work and the world of learning. It is a method of instruction that combines classroom learning with realistic, hands-on experience. This program provides students in the two-year applied degree programs in accounting and management with the opportunity to obtain further knowledge and skills related to the business field through a planned and supervised paid or unpaid work experience. Students will achieve practical work experience, and apply what has been learned in the classroom to actual work situations.
Upon completion of the specified prerequisites, students should contact the coordinator, Bob DiPaolo, or any other fulltime business faculty member for information needed to initiate the process for registration for ACCT 280 (for accounting) or BUSN 280 (for management). The following documents will provide you with comprehensive details about the courses and how the overall program is administered in the Business Department.
Instructions for Submitting Application
Once a student has met the ACCT 280 or BUSN 280 course prerequisites (refer to the respective syllabus above for details), the first step in preparing for the co-op work experience is to submit an application to the program coordinator, Bob DiPaolo. Students are encouraged to do so as soon as the prerequisites are met, even though it may be one or more semesters later that the experience is planned.
There are two options for completion and submission. The first is to open the MS Word document template and complete the required open fields by using the tab key to move from section to section. Once completed, save the file as an MS Word (.doc) file or a Rich Text (.rtf) file using your last name as the file name. Then, simply send an e-mail to bdipaolo@lc.edu after including the resulting file as an attachment. The second option for completion and submission is to simply print the document and print responses to the required sections by hand. Then either fax the completed document to (618) 468-7261 or mail it to the name and address shown below. You will be contacted with the needed enrollment information after eligibility has been confirmed and the application has been processed. Feel free to contact the coordinator at (618) 468-4533 or at bdipaolo@lc.edu if you have any questions or need further assistance.
