L&C offers the following veterans’ education programs:
The Montgomery GI Bill
This program covers veterans who entered the military after June 30, 1985, and who contributed money to the program. It also applies to those with Chapter 34 (the old GI Bill) eligibility who were eligible to receive benefits on December 31, 1989.
The Veterans’ Vocational Rehabilitation Program
Veterans with a service-connected disability that creates an employment handicap are eligible for this program. Recipients need approval from their VA counselor each semester in order to receive benefits.
The Montgomery GI Bill - Selected Reserve
These benefits are for those on active reserve status or in the Army National Guard or National Air Guard.
Veterans’ Administration Work-Study Program
Work-Study jobs are available both on and off campus for veterans receiving the above education benefits and enrolled at least three-quarter time (9 or more credit hours). Contact the Veterans’ Certifying Official in the Financial Aid Office for additional information.
Tutorial Assistance
For tutorial assistance, contact the Veterans’ Certifying Official in the Financial Aid Office . L&C offers free tutoring in many academic fields through the Student Support Services Office on campus.
General studies and community education courses not required for a degree do not count for VA benefits, nor may courses taken outside your major be used to determine enrollment status for federal educational benefits. However, IVG may pay tuition if grades for these courses are assigned an academic standing computed by L&C.
