Academic Advising

L&C's Academic Advisement provides individualized enrollment assistance to help you choose the program and courses that best fit your goals.

Our professional, on-campus advisors will meet with you to discuss your education and career plans, past records, college placement test scores, college transcripts, and other available resources. Then, you and your advisor will develop an educational outline adapted to your individual needs, abilities, and interests.

Academic advisors also provide prospective students with general information related to admissions at L&C.

Who is required to see an advisor?

The following types of students must meet with an advisor before registering:

  • New students registering for math or English for the first time or enrolling in a degree or certificate program
  • Students in a selective admissions program
  • Athletes
  • International students
  • Returning students wishing to change their degree or certificate program
  • Students on academic probation or are returning from academic suspension

Athletes

L&C student athletes are to seek advisement through the Enrollment Center Academic Advisors. New students who have not completed college-level English or math and who will be participating in one of the National Junior College Athletic Association Division II sports are required to complete the Accuplacer College Placement test (CPT) before meeting with an Enrollment Center advisor. For student athletes starting in the fall semester call the on campus Baldwin Assessment Center at 618-468-5221 after March 1 to schedule an appointment.

How do I arrange to see an advisor?

Check with the Main Campus Enrollment Center (Baldwin Hall, Room 1450; Phone: 618-468-5222) in Godfrey to determine if advisors are seeing students on an appointment or walk-in basis.
