• COVID-19 Testing on Campus

In accordance with the state mandate, unvaccinated team members and students must test for COVID-19 weekly to be allowed on campus. This applies to anyone not fully vaccinated (two weeks from the final shot).

If you become fully vaccinated, you will no longer be required to submit to testing. If you are fully remote or online, you will also not be required to test.

Log in to the Shield Illinois testing portal to register your account, schedule testing and receive test results.

Lewis and Clark Community College will discontinue SHIELD COVID-19 testing onsite at 6 p.m., Tuesday, July 12.

The college will continue to offer SHIELD COVID-19 testing at RA 209 on the Godfrey Campus until 6 p.m. on Tuesday, July 12. After this date and time, onsite testing will no longer be available on the Godfrey campus.

Starting July 5, the college will offer FREE at-home COVID-19 test kits for all team members and students who are required to test. Reminder: The Governor’s mandate for weekly testing for unvaccinated team members and students is still in effect.

These test kits will contain two tests and will be distributed one box at a time. Test kits will be available at the following locations:

    • Family Health Clinic (FO 1525) from 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday – Thursday and 8 a.m. - noon on Fridays during the summer.
    • Campus Safety Building

Who can & cannot get tested?

The college provides free testing for asymptomatic, vaccinated and unvaccinated students and team members ONLY.

    • If you are a team member or student who has symptoms consistent with COVID-19, you must remain off campus and contact the COVID Contact Tracing team immediately by texting (618) 468-6818. Consult your physician or another testing location to report your symptoms and schedule a time to test.
    • If you are not a team member or a student, please visit the IDPH website for local testing options.
    • The college is currently not testing individuals who are 100% online or remote.

    Testing Procedure: Saliva-Based PCR Test

Lewis and Clark offers Shield saliva-based testing on the Godfrey and N.O. Nelson (Edwardsville) campuses. The test takes only minutes to complete and results will be sent to you through the portal 12-24 hours after testing.

All the information you need to know about this testing is included in the links below.

A few things to note with the Shield saliva-based testing:

    • You will need to register and create an account in the Shield portal in advance of any testing (please see the link to instructions above).
    • This new test takes only minutes to complete – your results will be sent to you through the portal 12-24 hours after testing.
    • You cannot eat, drink, smoke or chew one hour before testing without risking a rejected, invalid or inconclusive test result. If your test result is returned invalid or inconclusive, you will be asked to retest for the week.
    • If you are receiving your weekly testing at an alternative testing location, you will still be responsible for uploading your weekly testing information; if you are testing on campus, your proof of testing and results will be shared with the college for compliance purposes and you will no longer be responsible for uploading your proof of testing weekly.

What if I have tested positive for COVID-19 within the last 90 days?

The mandate does not provide a testing or vaccine exemption for those who have tested positive for COVID-19 previously. We are currently working on aligning our approach with CDC guidance regarding this issue. However, regardless of your COVID-19 status, you will be required to either become fully vaccinated or test weekly. We encourage those with this status to please work with our COVID-19 Coordinator by texting (618) 468-6818 to best assess and advise you in compliance with this mandate.
