  • College for Busy Adults

Congratulations on taking the first step toward college or returning after several years of being out of the classroom! For many adult learners, this can be an overwhelming, yet rewarding experience. L&C is here to help you succeed.

Many adult learners have several years' working experience, and we want to reward you for that. Prior learning includes knowledge and skills gained through work and life experience; through military training and experience; and through formal and informal education and training from in-state, out-of-state and international institutions.

    Prior Learning Assessment

Prior learning assessment (PLA) is the process we use to evaluate your current knowledge and previous learning experience for academic credit. This can be accomplished through standardized tests, course challenge examinations and portfolio assessment. Some of these methods cost more than others, but any PLA credit-earning method will typically cost you less than tuition to enroll in the equivalent course. PLA credit can also be used to fulfill pre-requisites for higher-level college courses at L&C.

30 and Out A.A.S. Degree Program Option

Anyone who has already earned an associate or bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university may earn an Associate in Applied Science Degree from one of our participating programs by completing 30 semester hours of approved degree-related courses. Students interested in this program option must contact the program coordinator to receive written approval detailing the specific courses required for this degree option. Students must meet all institutional requirements for the Associate in Applied Science Degree.
