Testing and New Student Orientation Day

Whether you attend separate events or take care of testing and orientation in one day, here’s what you’ll need to accomplish while on campus:

      • Take the College Placement Test. If you graduated within the last four years, we can use your high school transcript and ACT/SAT scores to determine which classes will work best for you. Scoring well on the test can save you time and money, so take it very seriously. Low scores may require you to take developmental classes before being eligible to register for college level ones.
      • Attend My L&C: New Student Orientation. Orientation is a free workshop that walks you through what to expect from your college experience at L&C. We cover college survival skills, registration issues and college terminology and policies, as well as student resources, information on campus life and more. During orientation, you will:
        • See an academic advisor to enroll in classes.
        • Get your student ID.
        • Get your parking hang tag. If for some reason you do not receive a hang tag during orientation, you can apply for one at the Campus Safety Office.
        • Update your LC Alert contact info. You're pre-loaded into the LC Alert system when you apply because the college uses LC Alert to contact you in case of an emergency on campus, or in the event of a campus closing. We do not use LC Alert to contact you for any other reason.
    1. Get your books. All your textbooks and classroom supplies are available for purchase at the L&C Bookstore, which is located on the Godfrey campus and online at the L&C Bookstore. You can use Financial Aid to buy books two weeks before the start of the semester.
    2. Pay for classes before deadline. You should receive a bill in the mail, and can pay by check or online via Self-service. If you have not paid, you may be dropped from your registered classes.*Ask the Bursar's Office about payment plans - (618) 468-3313 or (618) 468-3314.
