ST. LOUIS — The Lewis and Clark Community College Trailblazers pulled away in the second half and handed St. Louis Community College its first loss of the season Wednesday night, 62-58 in men’s basketball action at Forest Park Community College.
The Trailblazers, who evened their record to 3-3, were tied with the Archers at halftime 23-23.
Dawson Berry, a 6-foot-4 freshman from Centralia, led the Trailblazers with 17 points. He made 4 of 5 3-point shots and was 5 of 9 from the floor. Jalen Morgan added 15 points for L&C and Ben Wright scored 12 points.
STLCC was led by Robyion Hughes with 18 points. Trequon Patterson added 16 and Sterling Wooten scored 10 points.
The Trailblazers connected on 51 percent from the floor (22-43) including 8-16 from 3-point range, while the Archers (3-1) went 6-of-29 from beyond the arc and 6-17 from the free throw line. Each team pulled down 26 rebounds.
L&C will take on the Lindenwood-Belleville at 7 p.m. Monday at the Riverbend Arena, before stepping back into District 16 action Wednesday in Robinson against Lincoln Trail CC. The Trailblazers will play host to Olney Central College Dec. 1 at 3 p.m. then will face Mineral area College Sunday, Dec. 2 at Forest Park CC.
