No Time for Downtime

Article by: Pete Hayes, the Telegraph,

GODFREY — It’s been a tough start to 2020 for L&C’s Doug Stotler. But as the L&C athletic director and the Trailblazers’ men’s basketball coach, he’s looking ahead instead of in the rear-view mirror. There’s simply too much work on his desk to do otherwise.

“I’m getting a lot of recruiting things taken care of,” said Stotler, who’s hunkered down at home, as most people during the coronavirus pandemic. “The way things went since January made things, lets say, ‘interesting,’”

Interesting indeed. And while he may need time to reflect on the past winter seasons at L&C, there is simply too much on his plate.

“There’s no time for downtime,” Stotler said.

Stotler’s men’s basketball team hit the skids down the stretch after a solid start, plus he had the start of spring sports, dealing with issues caused by the pandemic, which included the closing of the L&C campus and cancellation of spring sports for the rest of the season by the NJCAA.
