ST. PETERS, Mo. — Call it a perfect storm. Sunday’s Region 24 Men’s Soccer Tournament semifinal between Lewis and Clark and Heartland was just that for L&C.
With two key starters out with injuries and the tournament moving from L&C’s home grass field to artificial turf some 35 miles away from home, the Trailblazers were never in sync and No. 4 Heartland took advantage. A penalty kick goal by Saul Amaya with six minutes left completed a second-half comeback and the Hawks ousted top-seeded and No. 17 ranked L&C 2-1 at the Missouri Rush Soccer Complex.
