GODFREY — Most of this season, L&C’s men’s soccer team dodged the injury bullet. But when two of the most important links in their chain went down at the end of the regular season, the going got much tougher.
All-America Reshaun Walkes and sophomore midfielder Kaleb Bassett suffered what turned out to be season-ending injuries in the Trailblazers’ final two regular-season games. And those games weren’t even Region 24 contests; the Blazers had already clinched the top spot in the region regular season standings and home-field advantage throughout the postseason.
But their postseason lasted just one game when No. 4 seed Heartland took advantage and bounced LCCC from the playoffs 2-1 Sunday in a Region 24 semifinal game at the Missouri Rush Sports Complex in St. Peters, Missouri.
