Article by: Pete Hayes, the Telegraph,

GODFREY — Previous L&C men’s soccer teams may well have wilted under the high-intensity pressure applied by Heartland College Saturday. But not this edition the Trailblazers. In fact, they fed off it in the second half and rolled to a 4-1 Region 24 victory at Tim Rooney Stadium.

“It was a really good game,” L&C coach Ryan Hodge said. “Especially in the second half. I thought (Heartland) had the better of the play in the first half, but we played really good in the second.”

Indeed. The Trailblazers, who led 1-0 at halftime, owned much of the second half.

“We didn’t fall into playing (Heartland’s) style,” Hodge said. “We played true to our style, we didn’t panic and we made the most of our chances.”

The Trailblazers led 1-0 at halftime and 2-0 early n the second half, before the Hawks countered to make it 2-1. But a counter-attack goal by L&C’s Baden Beckles in the 74th minute gave the Trailblazers breathing room.
