GODFREY — L&C women’s basketball coach Jaron Young is the first to admit that his team faces an experience gap this season. He even goes so far as to say many of his sophomores are “second-year freshmen,” because of their lack of playing experience last season.
But Young, whose Trailblazers are off to a 3-3 start, is cautiously optimistic. And he’s pleased by what his team has done in its last two games.
“We’re still trying to find the right combination,” Young said. “We have had four different players as our leading scorer in the six games we’ve played so far. But the last two games were very encouraging.”
The Trailblazers, already 0-2 against Region 24 teams with the losses to Lake Land and Rend Lake, will step back in the region Saturday with a 1 p.m. game in Centralia against Kaskaskia College. Monday at 5:30 p.m., Rend Lake will travel to the River Bend Arena for another clash with the Trailblazers.
