L&C Women Roll Past SW Tennessee 6-1

GODFREY — With a roster hit with illness, L&C women’s soccer coach Tim Rooney was hoping to make it through Friday’s game without the need to make many subs.

And while he didn’t exactly get his wish, Rooney’s Trailblazers still rolled past Southwest Tennessee Community College 6-1 at L&C.

The No. 11-ranked Trailblazers got three goals from Boitumelo Rabale, but she was forced to the bench midway through the second half after being poked in her left eye. Throw in a yellow card shown to L&C’s Carolynn Smith and Rooney found himself needing to sub in players he had wanted to get some extra rest on the bench.

“I didn’t want to take a risk with (Smith),” Rooney said. “It didn’t hurt us, though. It was a good win.”

The Trailblazers, who are 8-2, rolled to their sixth consecutive victory. SWT is 4-2.
