GODFREY — It happens every off season. The migration of soon-to-graduate JUCO sophomores to four-year schools to finish their college careers.

For the Lewis and Clark Community College soccer teams, it started slowly but has picked up speed. The L&C women finished 20-4 and tied for third place in the nation. The L&C men’s team finished 12-3-1 and fell in a Region 24 Tournament semifinal game.

Coaches at last week’s United soccer coaches convention in Baltimore were checking in on L&C’s crop of standout sophomores, including Women’s National JUCO Player of the Year Boitumelo Rabale, who helped the Trailblazers to a tie for third place in the nation at the nationals.

While Rabale is still examining her opportunities, several L&C players have already signed with their next college.

Roxana High grad Emma Lucas, who’s already enrolled at Cumberland University in Tennessee after wrapping up her requirements at L&C.

While Lucas is the first to transfer, she wasn’t the first to sign, however.
