GODFREY – The Haskell Parking Lot will be closed for the summer beginning June 12 to allow for an excavation project, which includes the installation of pervious pavers.
Last year, the college was awarded an Illinois Green Infrastructure Grant (IGIG) to deploy new water retention strategies in the Haskell Parking Lot area to address surface runoff.
This project will include excavation, reconfiguration of the space and installation of pervious pavers in the current lot, as well as the installation of numerous plants and a unique water retention feature in the swale area between the main roadway and Erickson Hall.
This project is set to begin June 12, and the goal is to have the Haskell Parking Lot area substantially completed by the start of fall classes in August. In the meantime, anyone who normally parks there will need to find alternative parking.
Once the lot reopens, the traffic flow will have reversed so that the current exit near Erickson Hall will become the new entrance to the lot. This will eliminate the line of traffic that backs into the main roadway during the early morning rush.
We apologize for this inconvenience throughout the summer.
