MATH-145 - General Education Statistics

Examines the collection, organization and interpretation of both univariate and bivariate quantitative data using graphical and numerical descriptive methods; develops necessary sampling distribution theory through computer simulation and actual experimentation; provides the opportunity to design and carry out real experiments to estimate unknown population parameters and to test hypotheses about those parameters. Emphasizes the use of microcomputers and calculators to perform analyses throughout the course.
Prerequisite: C or better in MATH 118 or C or better in MATH 116 or MATH 16B or placement by exam, and MATH 113 or high school geometry. A graphing calculator is required for this course. Check with the College Bookstore or the Mathematics Department for recommended models.
