Donor-Supported Scholarship Program

For students enrolling at L&C, nearly $300,000 in scholarships is up for grabs each year. Established by private donors and the L&C Board of Trustees, more than 120 scholarships exist for students of all ages, abilities, levels of academic standing and full- or part-time enrollment status. About half of these scholarships cover a student’s full tuition and fees (approximately $4,500 value for a full-time student.)

Applications are due in early March for the following academic year, but unawarded scholarships may be available through a second application cycle opening in July.

Apply for a Scholarship

Any student who has applied to L&C is qualified and encouraged to apply for a scholarship at www.lc.edu/scholarships. One application is all it takes to be automatically matched to scholarships.

A Scholarship Committee, comprised of professional educators from local school districts, reviews the applications and recommends recipients, then students are notified in the spring if they are selected for an award.

Your Support is Life Changing

Scholarships are provided through support from various individuals, businesses and organizations throughout the community, who either contribute money annually to fund the needed support or who have established endowed scholarships. No matter where the support comes from, it has a profound impact on our students.

Endowed scholarships may be set up by individuals, families or corporations through an initial minimum contribution of $30,000 or more to establish an annual scholarship in perpetuity. By definition, an endowed scholarship is one in which the fund principal remains intact and fund distributions are only drawn from the interest that is accumulated each year. These scholarships may be named to honor the memory of someone, identified with a family or corporation, or named after a particular cause, need or group that is important to the donor.

The Foundation Office works with the donor(s) to establish the selection criteria for their scholarships and may rest assured their wishes will be carried out explicitly.
