Help comes in many shapes and forms

There are many different forms of financial aid that can help you pay for school. Check out the video below and fill out your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) using L&C's school code, 010020.

Your financial aid package will be specific to you and your situation. You can accept or reject any type of award offered to you. Need help deciding? Talk to one of our Financial Aid advisors.

Grants

Grants are a form of financial aid that doesn't have to be repaid* (unless you drop out or don't fulfill your obligations as a student). There are numerous federal and state grants you could qualify for, including the Federal Pell Grant and Illinois Monetary Award Program (MAP) Grant. Fill out your FAFSA as soon as the application opens to increase your chances of receiving grants, as many state grants are offered on a limited basis. Learn more

Scholarships

Scholarships also do not need to be repaid. Lewis and Clark offers more than 175 scholarship opportunities, funded through the college, Lewis and Clark Community College Foundation, Monticello College Foundation, Lewis and Clark Faculty Association, and other public and private organizations. While some are based on merit, talent or a particular area of study, L&C has opportunities for students of all types, backgrounds and abilities. Learn more.

Work-Study Jobs

Work-Study jobs offer the opportunity for students to work on campus to earn money toward their education. Unlike other forms of aid, work-study money is paid out on a paycheck-to-paycheck basis. Lewis and Clark offers two types of work-study jobs – federal (need-based, determined by FAFSA) and institutional (not need-based). Students can work in a variety of offices and areas of campus, up to 20 hours per week in total.  Learn more.

Loans

Loans are money for school that must be paid back. There are multiple types of loans available. Federal student loans usually have more benefits than those offered through banks or other private sources. If you take a loan of any kind, it is important to understand your repayment options so you can successfully repay it without getting buried in debt. L&C's Financial Aid advisors can help. Learn more.
