It's never too late to learn something new or pursue the career of your dreams, so congratulations on taking this first step! Lewis and Clark is here to help ensure your transition back to school is as smooth and rewarding as possible.
We know that trying to work college into your adult life can seem overwhelming, especially if you're working full-time or raising a family. Let us help you find a path and schedule that works for you and not the other way around.
Credit for What You Know
Many adult learners have several years of working experience and prior learning – did you know you can get credit for that? Whether your knowledge comes from life, military training, formal or informal training, we can make it work for you.
We use a process called prior learning assessment (PLA) to evaluate your current knowledge and previous learning experience for academic credit. This can be accomplished through standardized tests, course challenge examinations and portfolio assessments. Some of these methods cost more than others, but any PLA credit-earning method will typically cost you less than tuition to enroll in the equivalent course. PLA credit can also be used to fulfill prerequisites for higher-level college courses at L&C.
Accelerated Programs
Your time is valuable, which is why we offer multiple pathways to a college degree that can get you to work faster.
- AIM - This accelerated business degree pathway focuses on a flexible and advanced evening schedule to help you complete your associate degree in three years while attending part-time.
- 30 and Out - These options allow students who already have an associate degree or higher to earn a new one in as little as one year.
School on Your Schedule
Lewis and Clark is re-envisioning higher education and working to make it accessible to anyone who wants to pursue it. Alongside our traditional in-person and online course options, we're offering more flexible pathways.
- BlendFlex - Balance school with work, family, and life. BlendFlex courses let you attend each class either in person or virtually through live Zoom sessions. You have the freedom to switch between the two as your schedule or needs change. BlendFlex courses are synchronous, meaning all students participate in live class sessions at the same scheduled meeting times, whether attending in person or online.
- Competency-Based Education (CBE) - Lewis and Clark offers CBE degree pathways through its Performance Assessed Competency Education (PACE) program. Available through courses in many of our degree programs, CBE awards college credit based on your demonstrated mastery of skills—not the amount of time you spend in the classroom. Instead of completing a course in a traditional 8- or 16-week term, you finish when you've mastered a clearly defined set of competencies, with instructor and coaching support available throughout your learning journey.
