LICENSURE INFORMATION

Professional Licensure Disclosures

The U.S. Department of Education requires institutions to disclose whether the curriculum for programs designed or advertised as leading to professional licensure or certification required for employment does not meet or has not been determined to meet state educational requirements where a student is located. Disclosure is required regardless of a program’s modality.

The programs listed below are designed to meet educational requirements for professional licensure or certification for that occupation in Illinois. For more information* on which programs meet the state education requirements in any other state, U.S. Territory, or the District of Columbia, check the program pages listed at https://www.lc.edu/academic-programs/degrees-certificates/index.html.

Online Student Complaints

Online students should resolve any complaints by following the college's established student complaint process, as explained on the college’s Consumer Information page.

Lewis & Clark Community College is student-focused and will work to resolve student concerns. However, if an issue cannot be resolved internally, out-of-state online students can file a complaint with the state in which they reside. In compliance with the Federal Department of Education regulations, view Student Complaint Information by State. Students from states that participate in the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (SARA) may also contact the Illinois Community College Board when seeking a resolution.

* While Lewis & Clark Community College's programs might fulfill all or some educational requirements in other states, the Professional Licensure Public Disclosure specifies whether each listed program meets or does not meet the educational criteria for each U.S. state and territory. Please note, this pertains solely to the program curriculum and not to the ability to transfer a license to another state after obtaining a license in Illinois. Students are encouraged to contact the relevant state licensing authority directly to ascertain whether Lewis & Clark's program meets the educational requirements for licensure or certification in the state where they reside or work. It should be noted that completing an academic program is generally only one aspect of meeting professional licensure requirements. Many states require individuals to fulfill additional requirements to qualify for licensure, which may include passing state exams, background checks, fingerprinting, and similar criteria. State laws, regulations, and policies governing professional licensure can change at any time. The decision to grant a license or certification ultimately resides with the state. Only state licensing agencies or boards can determine whether an academic program meets or partially meets the educational requirements for licensure. The college cannot guarantee an individual's attainment of any professional licensure or certification, in any field, in any jurisdiction. Lastly, while Illinois may not require licensure for employment in certain professions, other U.S. states or territories might.
