Wellspring“Wellspring” was the third piece of art commissioned by the Lewis and Clark Community College Foundation in 2010. It serves as the centerpiece for the courtyard at the N.O. Nelson campus in Edwardsville, IL. The sculpture was created by the local artist John Medwedeff.

Medwedeff was born and raised in Nashville, TN and has worked as an independent artist from his studio in Murphysboro, IL, since 1988. He earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts and his Master of Fine Arts from SIU at Carbondale. Medwedeff has created several sculptures for private, public and corporate collections across the United States.

“Wellspring” is the second piece of art created by Medwedeff for Lewis and Clark Community College. His sculpture “Bloom” resides in front of the Wade building on the Godfrey campus and was created in honor of the late Professor Lars Hoffman.
