American Collegiate Hockey AssociationGODFREY, Ill. – Lewis and Clark Community College (LC) is proud to announce the addition of men’s and women’s hockey clubs to its athletic offerings for Fall 2026, marking a unique opportunity for student-athletes in the region.

L&C will compete in the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Division II, with the men’s team joining the Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA) conference and the women’s team competing as an independent club.

Both teams will call the East Alton Ice Arena home, providing a local venue for practices and games.

“This is an exciting step for Lewis and Clark,” said Head Coach Tyler Elbrecht. “Our goal is to build a program that helps young adults succeed—whether that means advancing to a four-year college after Lewis and Clark or preparing for their careers.”

Elbrecht brings extensive experience as a former NCAA Division I player and professional athlete with nearly 400 games under his belt. He is joined by Assistant Coach Kyle Culiberk, who has coached at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) and served as hockey director at Twin Bridges. Leading the women’s team is Head Coach Mattie Norton, a former NCAA Division III captain and SUNYAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year, with over five years of coaching experience.
