Winners of LC’s 21st Juried Student Art Exhibition Announced

GODFREY –Lewis and Clark Community College announced the winners of the 21^stAnnual Student Art Exhibition.

This year’s exhibit, which comprised 52 original pieces, brought together a curated selection of students’ artwork from the college’s Fine Art and Graphic Design programs.

Fine Art Program Coordinator Angela Hung was pleased with the quality of work in this year’s exhibit, which was featured in the Hatheway Gallery in April.

“The exhibition highlighted student work that demonstrated exceptional creativity, craftsmanship and a refined design aesthetic,” she said. “We are very proud of our students.”

Gabrielle McQuay earned the top spot with her charcoal drawing. “Still Life.”

“I was excited to participate, but I didn’t expect to win,” McQuay said. “It made me happy because the winning piece took a lot of effort. It was cool to see everyone’s work on display in the gallery. Everyone did so well!”

• 3rd place – Katelyn Ren Dennios – “Flower Sgraffito Vase,” ceramic
• Honorable Mention – Madison Rea – “Fences – Movie Monologue Poster,” digital media
• Honorable Mention – Mackenzie Geary – “Mortality of Home,” acrylic on Bristol
• Honorable Mention – Ann Davidson – “Master Copy of P. Monsted, Sleigh Ride On a Sunny Winter Day,” oil on canvas
• Special Recognition – Lauren Glasper – “Tea Shop,” photography
• Special Recognition – Melissa Mulrean, “Jaws,” digital media
• Special Recognition – Bobbi Tervasi – “Ballet,” digital media

Hung expressed her thanks to those who helped with the exhibition, including Professor Jordan Walker, Professor Jacklyn Meyer, Professor Kenzie Holzinger-Smith and Studio Technician Teresa Frisch.
